Bethany Stempert ~Director, Lead Teacher of 2 Day Class
When Bethany discovered School House Christian in her search for a quality preschool for her daughter, she immediately knew this was a community that she wanted to be a part of. After two years of positive experiences with the school as a parent, she excitedly joined the teaching staff as they transitioned to Assumption Preschool. Bethany earned a BS in Elementary and Special education from Houghton College and a MS in Elementary Education with a focus on reading and literacy from Walden University. She taught special education in an inclusive setting in Georgia until she and her family relocated to Maryland to live closer to extended family. In 2012, they moved to the Lehigh Valley which they instantly fell in love with. Bethany is married to her college sweetheart, Joe, and has 3 children: Samuel, Adelyn & Marcus. Alone with enjoying the many outdoor activities and festivals in the area, Bethany enjoys reading, running, gardening, drinking coffee on her back porch, and seeking out the very best u-pick farms that the Lehigh Valley has to offer!
Catherine Maslany ~ Assistant Director, Lead Teacher of 4 Day Class, Assistant Teacher for the Afternoon.
Catherine Maslany graduated from The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Performing Arts in 2007. From there she decided that she wanted to pursue a career that incorporated her dance experience. She chose to go to Penn State Altoona and pursue Physical Therapy. After one year of general studies and another year of Kinesiology courses, she decided that life was not pulling her towards physical therapy anymore. She soon realized that she was more interested in working with young children. Cat packed her Penn State bags in 2010 and enrolled at Northampton Community College in Early Childhood Education. In 2012 she became the Assistant Preschool Teacher at Reibman Hall Children’s Center, and graduated in January of 2013 with her Associate’s degree of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education. Finally feeling comfortable in her choice of pursuing Early Education, she moved on to further her career and education at DeSales University. In 2015, she graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Cat loves hiking, health foods, cooking, snowboarding, all of the arts, yoga, geography and world studies, agriculture, and most of all her husband Zach and their pug/shih Tzu Merlot and affenpinscher Ziggy.
Leslie Cherry ~ Lead teacher of 3 Day Class and Financial Director
Leslie was born and raised in New Jersey. She attended Rutgers University where she graduated in 1992 with a BS in Accounting. Leslie is currently pursuing and ASS in Early Childhood Education from Northampton Community College. She worked for Johnson & Johnson until the birth of her son Matthew in 1996. In 2001, Leslie and her husband Craig moved to Saucon Valley with their sons Matthew and Jason. Their third son, Sean, was born in 2004 and attended School House Christian Preschool. Leslie has been a catechist at Assumption BVM Church for 13 years. She quickly realized how much she enjoyed being with the children. After being a stay-at-home mom for 18 years, she joined the teaching staff at School House Christian Preschool. Leslie loves spending her mornings with God's little ones. She has a passion for children and wants to help them all achieve their greatest potential. She is excited to take on her new role and to be a part of such a loving, caring, and nurturing preschool.
Rachel Tizol ~ Lead Teacher of Afternoon class, Assistant for the 4 Day Class
Jill Williams ~ Friday Friends Teacher
Jill, a native New Mexican moved to the Northeast after graduating high school. She graduated from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ in 2002. From there, she taught music, then 3rd grade for 11 years in New Jersey. Along the way, she met her husband, Drew, moved to Pennsylvania, and got her Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the University of St. Mary. She now stays home with their three children, Josie, Ben, and Annabel. While home, she taught Music Together in both New Hope and the Saucon Valley. Jill found the preschool while looking for a quality, child centered, play based school for Josie. She instantly fell in love with Assumption, the teachers, and community. She is beyond thrilled to join the team! In her spare time, she loves yoga, reading, running, gardening, and cooking yummy meals for her family!
Amity Cassaday~ 2 Day Assistant Teacher
Children, education and music have always been a part of Amity's life. She danced for many years and has since worked with children of every age from birth up to sixth graders! Amity has lived in the Lehigh Valley for most of her life. She graduated from Southern Lehigh High School and then from Penn State University with a BS in Elementary and Kindergarten Education. She taught for four years at Moravian Academy in Bethlehem before starting her family. Amity is married and lives in Coopersburg with her husband Jason and their daughters Amelia, Adelaide and Maeve. She also has two dogs, a cat and 14 chickens! One of her favorite childhood memories is learning how to ski when she was 8 years old. In fact, skiing, along with hiking, running, doing Crossfit, reading and spending time with friends and family are just a few things Amity enjoys doing in her spare time. When Amity's oldest daughter was 1 year old, they discovered a program called Music Together. She went on to take the class with all three of her children and has since been teaching the class for over 11 years! Amity truly believes that all children are born musical and capable of amazing things when their creativity is nurtured. The more we, as parents and teachers, work together to encourage and embrace their natural abilities and interests the richer our children's lives will be. She feels blessed to be given this opportunity to work with your children to unlock their true potential as thinkers, movers and discoverers!
